ERO S ONOGA SVIJETA
1. čin
Na gumnu bogatog Markova doma Đula s prijateljicama komuša kukuruz, snatreći o nepoznatom dragom, koji joj od nekog vremena šalje darove, ali se sam ne pojavljuje pred njom. Odjednom sa stoga stijena, kao s neba, pada među njih veseo i lijep momak, gologlav i odrpan. Udvara Đuli i priča zatim nevjerojatnu priču: da je Ero s onoga svijeta i da je taman pao s oblaka među njih. Na pitanja žena i djevojaka izručuje im pozdrave njihovih pokojnika, a i Đuli priča o njezinoj pokojnoj majci, koja će joj uskoro poslati dragog. Nailazi zla maćeha Doma i rastjeruje djevojke, Đulu grdi i opterećuje poslom. Mića joj želi pomoći, no Doma i njemu prijeti, dok je Mića ne podsjeti da joj na ognjištu kipi čorba, na što ona ljutito odlazi. Mića se odaje Đuli kao neznani dragi koji joj je slao poklone i ona ga zavoli, makar izgleda kao siromah i beskućnik. Dogovore se za sastanak pokraj seoskog mlina. Uto se vraća kući bahati gazda Marko sa svojim momcima. Prepire se s Mićom i tjera ga od svog praga kao golaća i bezgaćnjaka. No ero ne dospijeva otići. Tek što je Marko zamakao za kuću, dozivlje ga potajno Doma. Čula je da je upravo sišao s onoga svijeta i ispituje ga o svom pokojnom prvom mužu Matiji. Videći da je ona povjerovala priči, Mića joj nabaja kako pokojni Matija nema ni novčića na nebu, gdje se sve mora plaćati kao i na zemlji; rasplakavši se, Doma mu hitro donese svu Markovu bogatu ušteđevinu da je ponese u nebo njezinu Matiji. Ero to dakako obeća i hitro zamakne u selo. Izlazi iz kuće Marko i nalazi Domu gdje plače. Ona mu ispriča u kakvoj je ''stisci'' njezin pokojni Matija i kako mu je po Eru poslala sav njihov novac. Marko uzbuni selo i krene u potjeru za lopovom.
2. čin
Mlinar Sima veselo pjeva u svome mlinu. Dolaze žene sa žitom, a posljednja je Doma, koja traži da se njezino žito prvo samelje. Posvadivši se sa ženama ona zlostavlja Đulu, koja je došla s njome, našto je Sima izbaci iz mlina. Đula tuguje za pokojnom majkom, a zatim sa ženama odlazi zaboravivši zobnicu i torbu. Sima čisti mlin, kad se izvana pjesmom oglasi Mića, koji veselo pozdravlja mlinara. Ali izdaleka se začuje topot konja: to Marko goni lopova. No Sima pomisli kako Marko dolazi da mu se osveti što je izbacio Domu i premire od straha. Lukavi Mića mijenja s njime kaput i šalje ga u goru, a sam se preruši u mlinara, davši naišlom Marku krive upute. Marko i njegovi momci otrče u goru za mlinarom, a Mića ostane čuvajući -- Markova konja. Vraća se Đula po zaboravljenu torbu i neće najprije ni da sasluša Miću, smatrajući ga lopovom. No njegove poštene riječi uvjere je u njegovu ljubav i ona pristane da pobjegne s njime, makar i nema nigdje ničega. On joj na to obećava da će je odvesti majci u bogate dvore. Čuje se hajka iz gore, pa Mića s Đulom bježi na Markovu konju, ostavljajući mu poruku po jednom čobančetu. Vraća se Marko s momcima i uhvaćenim mlinarom, za kojega misli da je u dosluhu s lopovom. Nesporazum raščišćava Erova poruka Marku: pozdravlja ga Ero s onoga svijeta, i na njegovu konju s Đulom u krilu žuri natrag u nebo! Marko je bijesan na upravo naišlu Domu i na sebe sama, a sa Simom se miri i sprijateljuje.
3. čin
Na seoskom sajmu Marko se svađa s Domom, koja ga napokon ljutito napušta. Mlinar Sima zaustavlja Marka i javlja mu da je Đulu našao u trećemu selu iza brijega, gdje je navodni Ero, zapravo Mića, bogat gazda. Oni će toga dana doći također na proštenje. Mića i Đula zaista i dolaze, te se nakon kratkog rječkanja u kome Mića nadmudri Marka svi pomire i povedu radosno kolo.

Description: O Rei Afonso X cóntanos na Cantiga a Santa María número 103 o milagre acontecido ao nobre Ero, señor e despois abade do Mosteiro de Armenteira. A lenda pertence ao ciclo celta dos contos sobre o Paraíso, conservados nas tradicións orais de Bretaña, Cornualles, Gales, GALICIA e Irlanda.
A lenda de San Ero de Armenteira relaciónase tamén coas do abade Virila ( Navarra ) e o monxe de Heisterbach. É un clásico teolóxico dos goces da eternidade que tivo unha ampla repercusión literaria no mundo occidental, coma sucedeu no mosteiro benedictino flamenco de Afflighem entre 1122-1195, ou coma en Francia, onde hai cara a 1195 unha tradución do bispo de Paris, ou reproducido tamén no ano 1212 por Jacobo de la Vorágine.
*A LENDA DE SAN ERO :
Ero de Armenteira, nobre galego do século XII, tivo certa noite un soño no que a Virxe dicíalles tanto a el como á súa muller , coa que non tiña descendencia, que fundasen un mosteiro, pra que así tivesen descendencia espiritual. De xeito que o nobre Ero, señor destas terras, aburrido das intrigas e ruindades da vida mundana, decidiu consagrarse á oración e penitencia no sacro Monte Castrove e transformou un dos seus pazos en mosteiro fundando o Mosteiro de Armenteira, converténdose no seu abade.
Durante a súa longa estancia no mosteiro o abade preguntábase a miúdo sobre cómo sería o Paraíso e rogáballe encarecidamente á Virxe que lle permitise velo. Así pois, un día, paseando polos bosques do redor do mosteiro, Ero quedou cativado polo cantar dun ruiseñor e sentou a descansar, quedándose durmido baixo as polas dun carballo ao deixarse levar polo deleite no arruio de tan fermoso canto.
Dando volta cara ao mosteiro, o abade tiña a impresión de que aquel non era o camiño polo que viñese, pero chegando ao cenobio, a súa sorpresa foi máxima ao ve-lo seu antigo mosteiro convertido nunha construción máis moderna e grande, no que tamén había máis monxes.
Aparvado e desconcertado, Ero dirixiuse cara un monxe e expresoulle a súa confusión. Armouse un gran desconcerto no mosteiro ata que o monxe máis ancián, que escoitara falar do vello abade Ero, chegou cun vetusto libro de onde leu perante tódolos presentes a seguinte historia:
"Santo Ero de Armenteira, nobre e piadoso home, fundador e abade deste mosteiro, quen nunca máis foi visto logo de saír a meditar ao monte Castrove"
O vello abade comprendeu entón que mentres se deixou compracer co canto do ruiseñor, pasaran no mundo uns trescentos anos. Satisfeito do milagre de Santa María ao mostrarlle deste xeito o paraíso, San Ero encomiou esta graza pra inmediatamente falecer caendo aos pés dos sorprendidos monxes.
Desde entón célebrase no campo do Mosteiro de Armenteira a Festa de San Ero e a Romaría das Cabezas en honra de Santa María. Nesta multitudinaria romaría galega de acción de grazas á Virxe das Cabezas, de propiedades milagrosas pra sana-las migrañas e outras doenzas craniais, obsérvase o seguinte:
- Procesión da imaxe polo atrio do templo do mosteiro de Armenteira.
- É común ver aos asistentes portando sobre as súas testas exvotos con forma de efixies.
- Os fieis presentan a súa devoción á imaxe, unha Virxe lactante, figura pouco común na iconografía relixiosa galega, similar á Virxe do Leite de Riofrío (Mondariz).
*O MOSTEIRO DE ARMENTEIRA.-
O mosteiro de Armenteira amosa o aire de grandiosidade propio dos mosteiros cistercienses de orixe medieval a pesar de seres un dos máis modestos. A súa orixe remóntase a 1.149 cando don Ero Armentariz maila súa esposa, ao non ter descendencia, deciden fundar un mosteiro dúplice no lugar aproveitando unha igrexa prerrománica e as súas dependencias. A esta fundación engadíronselle importantes doazóns dos reis Afonso VI e Fernando II así como as doutros nobres da época. Aos poucos anos, en 1.162 incorpórase á Orde do Cister. Coma outros cenobios cistercienses influíu de forma decisiva na historia da comarca, sobre todo no seu desenvolvemento agrícola. En 1.523 incorpórase á Congregación de Castela e abandónase en 1.837 como consecuencia da desamortización. A partir de entón comeza a súa ruína ata que en 1.963, Carlos de Valle Inclán, fillo do insigne escritor galego Don Ramón Mª del Valle Inclán, funda a Asociación de Amigos do Mosteiro de Armenteira e comeza a súa restauración. En 1.989, unha comunidade de monxas de Alloz (Navarra) restablece a vida cisterciense no cenobio dedicándose á fabricación de materiais e útiles litúrxicos. A partir de 1.990 a Xunta de Galicia inicia varias actuacións, máis ou menos afortunadas, pra a consolidación e restauración do recinto monasterial.

Description: The King Alfonso X tells us in the Troubadour poem to Santa Maria number 103 the miracle happened to the noble Ero, gentleman and later abbot Armenteira's Monastery. The legend concerns to the Celtic cycle of the stories on the Paradise, preserved in the oral traditions of Brittany, Cornwall, Wales, Galicia and Ireland.
San Ero's legend of Armenteira is related also to those of the abbot Virila(Navarra-Spain) and the monk of Heisterbach. It is the classic theological one of the possessions of the eternity that had a wide literary repercussion in the western world, since it happened in Afflighem's Benedictine Flemish monastery among 1122-1195; or like in France, where there is about 1195 a translation of the bishop of Paris; or reproduced also in the year 1212 by Jacobo de la Vorágine.
*SAN ERO´s LEGEND:
Ero of Armenteira, Galician noble of the 12th century, had certain night a dream in which the Virgin they was saying so much to him as to his wife, with whom he did not have descent, which they were founding a monastery, in order that this way they had spiritual descent. So the noble Ero, master of these lands, got bored with the intrigues and basenesses of the mundane life, decided to devote to the prayer and penance in the sacred Castrove Mount and transformed one of his palaces into monastery founding Armenteira's Monastery, turning into his abbot.
During his long stay in the monastery the abbot was wondering often on how it would be the Paradise and was requesting earnestly the Virgin who was allowing him to see it. This way so, one day, walking along the forests near to the monastery, Ero remained captivated for to sing of a nightingale and sat down to resting remaining slept under the branches of an oak being left to go for the delight in the arruyo of so beautiful singing.
Giving return facing the monastery, the abbot had the impression of which that one was not the way for the one that was coming, but coming to the monastery, his surprise was maximum on having seen his former monastery turned into a more modern and big construction, in which also there were more monks.
Bewildered and disconcerted, Ero went to a monk and expressed his confusion to him. A great confusion armed itself in the monastery until the most elderly monk, who heard speaking about the old man abuse Ero, came with a very old book and read before all the presents the following history:
" San Ero of Armenteira, noble and pious male, founder and abbot of this monastery, who nevermore was seen after going out to ponder to the mount Castrove "
The old abbot understood then that while he was left to take pleasure with the singing of the nightingale, were happening in the world approximately three hundred years. Satisfied of the miracle of Santa Maria on having showed him this way the paradise, San Ero praised this grace immediately to expire to the feet of the surprised monks.
Since then there is celebrated in the field of Armenteira's Monastery the San's Holiday Ero and the Pilgrimage of the Heads in honor of Santa Maria. In this multitudinous Galician pilgrimage of action of thanks to the Virgin of the Heads, of miraculous properties to cure the migraines and other cranial ailments, the following thing is observed:
- Procession of the image along the porch of the temple of Armenteira's monastery.
- It is common to see the assistants carrying on their heads votive offerings with form of effigies.
- The public inspectors present their devotion to the image, a nursing Virgin, she appears slightly commonly in the religious Galician iconography, similar to the Virgin of Riofrío's Milk (Mondariz-Pontevedra-GALICIA-Spain).
