Description: Glykeria and Michalis Tzouganakis performing "Auton ton kosmo ton kalo" followed by a series of "sousta" tunes with "mantinades". Video from the show "Stin Ygeia Mas", which was aired on 19th of November 2005 on NET channel (Greece).
I just loved to see Glykeria singing Cretan music. Personally, I believe she is one of the most important Greek singers - and how the &"^$% does she manage to look younger every time I see her?
What to say about Michalis Tzouganakis. He must be one of the five best lute players in the whole world at the moment! He is by far my favourite Cretan musician (alive!).

 | Glykeria - T'apogeymata
Tags: dance, Glykeria, Greece, Tango
Description: What a greata dance - Early Tango was known as Tango criollo, or simply Tango. Today, there are many Tango dance styles, including Argentine Tango, Uruguayan Tango, Ballroom Tango (American and International styles), Finnish Tango and vintage Tangos. What many consider to be the authentic Tango is that closest to that originally danced in Argentina and Uruguay, though other types of Tango have developed into mature dances in their own right.

Description: Glykeria, a Greek singer, became a huge success story in Israel starting with a small show in front of a few Greek enthusiasts in 1993 and within a few years becoming a "household" name in Israel, an "honorary citizen", a platinum album seller, a performer with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and the favorite of Israel's top leaders and celebrities. In 1998 she was the only foreign artist to be invited to sing in the special memorial event for Yitzhak Rabin, the beloved leader who was assassinated three years before, attended by 200,000 people in Tel Aviv.
Glykeria, "The Sweet one" in Greek, has been one a successful female singer in Greece for many years. In summer 1993 she came to perform in Israel for the first time. She ended her performance with her own captivating version of and Israeli anthem "Shabechi Yerushaly'im" ("praises to Jerusalem") in Hebrew. This magical moment triggered a Greek-Israeli love story!
Glykeira became the most loved Greek singer in Israel and a major part of Israel's cultural scene in the 90's! Her special style full of depth, melancholy and endless emotion captured the heart of the Israelis, and her songs, both in Hebrew (perfect pronunciation !) and Greek became all-time classics! She became a "household" name in Israel, an "honorary citizen", a platinum and gold albums seller, and the favorite of Israel's top leaders and celebrities.
