Hi_Tack first graced our floors back in 2006 with their MASSIVE interpretation of the Jackson/McCartney "Say Say Say (Waiting For You)" -- which went on to become a massive Top 5 UK single and still to this day gets much exposure on the UK's airwaves. The single stayed in the singles chart for 14 weeks and went on to sell in excess of 140,000 copies -- no mean feat these days. The track also heralded a plethora of copycat records which found their way into the chart during the following year.
The enormous success of "Say Say Say" put the Hi_Tack boys in huge demand for their remixing and production skills -- they were responsible for the main club and radio mix for the Beatfreakz cover of the Jacksons hit "Somebody's Watching Me" as well as a bunch of high profile remixing antics.
So -- it's no surprise that the boys are back with a fresh take on the 1983 David Bowie classic "Let's Dance" -- and this time they mean business. Not fitting into the usual cover style -- the Dutch duo have reworked this nugget and have paid upmost respect to the original adding in a punchy bassline but still incorporating the anthemic chorus which lends itself for an uptempo rhythm. The track has been given the blessing of Bowie himself who had no hesitation in granting publishing clearance for the mix to go ahead. Bowie is known for his embracing of new musical ventures and has put various accapellas and samples up on the web to encourage remixers and producers to use his material in new compositions.
"Let's Dance" gets released on the 3rd September with club remixes from Hi_Tack, label mate Dennis Christopher -- who delivers a funk fuelled bomb that simply has Ibiza stamped all over it - and darker and more twisted remix from the uber cool Peter Gelderblom (who you will be hearing about in the not too distant future with his remake of the Chilli Peppers "By The Way").
Before hearing the record you may think this shouldn't happen to a classic -- after hearing it you will know why it has...... come on...... "LETS DANCE"!
