Rushe's Story
Rushe is an Irish born Soul & Rock Singer. A former member of the Dublin Gospel Choir, he has released 3 albums with the group. In May 08, Rushe was named as one of MTV's "Contenders 2008". Since then he's gone on to record his Debut Album 'GreyWorld' , due for release early 2009 on the Loud Child label & is currently preparing for a Nationwide Tour of Ireland with his Extensive Soul Band.
Described as a Unique blend of Soul, Folk and Rock Rushes refreshingly authentic sound is very much rooted in the Retro-soul of America, where he spent much of his childhood...immersed in the music he loved.
Already a seasoned performer and published songwriter, Rushe spent 6 years honing his craft and paying his dues as a soloist with the Dublin Gospel Choir, for whom he also wrote and arranged. As a member of the group Rushe also toured nationwide and worked with many artists including Paddy Casey, Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan, Nitin Sawhney, River Dance, Laura Izabor & the Hot House Flowers...in addition to singing with the Legendery, Late James Brown... all while perfecting his own sound and material.
A relatively new 'Solo' act, Rushe became the 1st Unsigned Irish Artist to earn a place on MTVs THE CONTENDERS" in 2008. The competition saw his music showcased on MTV 1, MTV Hits & TMF over a three month period following selection by MTV Industry Judges and over 200,000 online voters. In October 08, he was awarded a Music Bursary from the Arts Council & in March 2009 he releases his Debut Solo Album GreyWorld with Independent Label Loud Child Records.
With a distinctive voice that critics have compared to Luther Van Dross, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley and Bill Withers, Rushes music moves effortlessly between genres while maintaining a deep rooting in retro-soul. This, in addition to his soaring vocals & commitment to live performance all add up to make him a must see live act for 2009.
