"Rocky Mountain Way" is a song written by Joe Walsh, Kenny Passarelli and Joe Vitale. Together with Rocke Grace the quartet were the group Barnstorm.
The song was released in 1973 on the album "The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get." It bears many similarities to a track by Sly & The Family Stone called "Sex Machine", from their 1969 album "Stand!", including several vocal and instrumental motifs (as well as being in the same key), the use of a processed vocal, and the overall feel of the song including the 6/8 meter, with two guitars playing the solo. Ironically, "Rocky Mountain Way"'s chorus would later be borrowed by Steve Miller for his 1977 song "The Stake".
In 1977, the hard rock band Triumph covered this song on their "Rock and Roll Machine" album.
In 2005, heavy metal artist Ozzy Osbourne covered the song in his "Under Cover" compilation album.
Stephen Stills often plays the song live.
The Colorado Rockies baseball team plays the song at Coors Field immediately following the conclusion of any home victory.

I recorded this about 4 years ago. I have been intending on posting a video of this song but I just haven't been able to get around to doing so. My apologies for there being nothing live, but I hope a Joe Walsh slide show will do :) This was recorded very soon after I purchased my first electric guitar after almost 30 years of being totally acoustic. I also did not have the better quality equipment which I have today so the audio quality is not the best. Hope everyone enjoys it.
