Hawaai, le seul endroit au monde, ou le surf et le windsurf sont de véritables religions.
Composé d'une vingtaine d'îles et situé à 4000 kilométres des côtes Ouest Américaines. C'est ici que nous avons voulu rencontrer les futures stars de ces disciplines.
En effet, un simple amateur peut se voir propulsé au sommet des médias, grâce à un « set » particuliérement réussi, à cause de sponsors se trouvant sur la plage.
C'est le rêve de nombreux hawaiens, mais également celui de tous les surfeurs du monde.
Actuellement, l'île de Mauii connait un véritable phênoméne de mode. C'est l'endroit ou il faut être, pour se perfectionner, et évoluer parmi les professionnels.
Cela est dû à la présence de la célèbre vague « JAWS ». Découverte par le plus grand surfeur du monde Laird Hamilton. Elle fascine de part se taille ( 28 métres de haut en 1998 ), mais reste réservé à l'élite des « watermen ».
Nous avons eu la chance de suivre des jeunes professionnels, qui dans quelques années, seront sans nuls doutes, les meilleurs dans leurs catégories.
Parmi eux, Baptiste Gossein, un français installé à Mauii depuis trois ans. Passé professionnel il y a un an et demi, il nous a permit de pénétrer le cercle trés fermé, des «surfeurs de gros»...
Les places sont chères, et ils sont trés peu nombreux à pouvoir dompter «JAWS», comme le souligne dans son interview, le triple champion du monde de windsurf «Josh Stone».
Néanmoins, leurs vies ne se résument pas :" surf, filles et soirées". C'est un travail de tous les jours, ou ils participent au développement des produits des marques qu'ils représentent.
Ce film n'est autre qu'une succession de«tranches de vie», qui léve le voile sur des idées préconçues ; renseigne sur les nouvelles techniques de navigation ; et résume en images les plus beaux «rides» de ces jeunes «watermen» sur «JAWS».
