Richard Anthony, de son vrai nom Richard Btesh, est un chanteur français, né le 13 janvier 1938 au Caire (Égypte).
Il passe toute son enfance en Égypte, Argentine, Angleterre puis en France où il intègre le lycée Janson de Sailly.
Il faudra attendre son 3e 45 tours où apparaît "Nouvelle Vague". C'est un succès énorme. Richard devient très vite l'idole des jeunes.
S'ensuit une série de tubes, enregistrés à Londres dans le studio des Beatles tous arrangés par Ivor Raymonde.
Il acquiert des villas, un hôtel à la Jamaïque, une villa à Marbella, un avion privé qu'il pilote lui-même, des motos, voitures, bateaux... il aura aussi 11 enfants et 5 femmes.
En 1968, il a l'audace d'adapter le concerto d'Ajanjuez de Joaquin Rodrigo. Très vite c'est un succès mondial.
Les années 1970 sont moins brillantes jusqu'en 1974 où il revient avec "Amoureux de ma Femme". Puis s'en suit d'autres 45 tours et un 33 tours NON STOP (1978), son dernier album.
En 1978, il part à Los Angeles avec sa femme Sabine (qu'il a épousée la même année), elle n'aime pas les Américains et décide de rentrer en 1983. Mais le Fisc attend Richard...
Après 3 jours en prison en 1983 pour redressement fiscal, une tentative de suicide, la carrière de Richard semble être terminée. Il fait cependant quelques rares apparitions à la télé.
En 1996, il reprend le chemin des studios pour réenregistrer ses tubes pour la France mais aussi pour l'Espagne avec l'album "Sentimental".
Il revient alors en 2006 dans la tournée Âge tendre et Têtes de bois qui est un succès.
Richard est considéré encore aujourd'hui comme l'idole des idoles des années 1960 que personne n'a oublié.
