During WWII he survived in a Russian ocuppation zone in South-East Poland, to join later the Polish Emigree Army in the West. After the war he never returned to Poland, living in South Africa and in London, where he died in 1993. His outstanding voice, dim, strong and vibrating in nostalgy and in passion, somewhat resembles the certain passages in Joseph Schmidt's performances - although Aston never sung anything but the popular "schlagers". Irving Berlin's "Let's Face The Music And Dance" (in Polish: "Zatańczmy jeszcze ten raz")is perhaps one of Top Ten Hits of the XX Century. Composed for the movie "Follow the Fleet" was first perfomed by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. This recording was made for Syrena-Electro in 1936. Aston is accompanied by Syrena Record Dance Orchestra.
