 | Latino Street Gangs - Almighty Bishops
Tags: Almighty, Bishops, OneTrueMedia
Description: The Bishops formed in the 1960s as a Baseball team called the Bishops; however, they were not an actual gang at that time but simply a baseball team. Team mates used to wear T-shirts and windbreakers with Bishop symbols on them that Bishops still use to this day. In the year 1970 they became a faction of Latin Counts on the corner of 18th and Bishop as a strategic move by the Latin Counts to surround the Ambrose?s neighborhood and later on prepare for an invasion. There were two gangs that were created by the Latin Counts for this move one was the Latin Brothers the other was the Bishops. The two gangs were created as a way to confuse Ambrose, Latin Kings, and Satan Disciples in the neighborhood into thinking that Bishops and LBs were two new gangs separate from the Latin Counts; therefore, Ambrose would not find the need to launch full scale war on Bishops and LBs, this would help set the stage for an all out Latin Count invasion later on and the Bishops and LBs would have to join the fight. After just four months Ambrose figured out what was going on and Butler who was leader of Latin Brothers was killed, which caused Latin Brothers to relocate and become a separate nation, while the Bishops remained where they were. After this Bishops remained a Latin Count faction that acted independently and carried there own colors and symbols, but they fought alongside Counts and the force of the two gangs combined was known as the BCN (Bishop/Count nation). Some original Bishops from 1970 were Lil Mike, Bobby Bull, Bobby Bear, and Blackie. In 1978 when the People nation first formed, the Latin Counts were asked to become People and the Counts accepted, this meant that the Bishops were to accept. In the 1980s Counts and Bishops invaded the suburb of Cicero and took a lot of territory especially in the Grant Works section. In the year 1991 a verbal dispute broke out between a Bishop and a Latin Count. The Bishop threatened the Count and left later that night he returned and shot up the Count?s house, in the process the Latin Counts girlfriend caught a bullet right through the heart. After this the Counts killed a Bishop and the war began. Because of this war the BCN was severed and the Bishops became a separate nation entirely. Bishops are known to be a very violent street gang that has a reputation for violence. In recent years many of Bishop neighborhoods have been changed as a result of gentrification. A few years ago one could go through the Bishop's neighborhood and it was Latino with older buildings, in recent years the city of Chicago had those buildings destroyed and have been replaced by expensive apartments that house Yuppies or other rich people. | Traditional Catholic bishops consecrated at EcĂ´ne in 1988
Tags: Bishops, Catholic, Consecrations, Econe, Episcopal, Lefebvre, Marcel, Pius, Society, SSPX, Switzerland, Traditional, Traditionalist
Description: The controversial Episcopal consecrations of 30 June 1988 performed at Econe, Switzerland, by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre with the support of Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer. The Archbishop raised four traditionalist priests of the Society of Saint Pius X to the level of bishop in order that they might continue the work of the Society long after his death.
The Archbishop founded the Society in 1970 to maintain Catholic Tradition in the face of the changes sweeping through the Church following the Second Vatican Council (1962-65). After a turbulent eighteen years involving conflict with Church authorities and increasingly strained relations with Rome, the Archbishop performed the consecrations despite opposition by the Pope.
The Pope soon after issued a condemnation stating that the Archbishop and the four new bishops had incurred excommunication. Despite this the Archbishop, the bishops, and the Society at large continued on regardless. Today the Society numbers 450 priests, 230 seminarians, many brothers and sister, and many schools, priories, and churches throughout the world.
