Hilbrand Nawijn moet er aan geloven. De 58-jarige politicus staat zaterdag in de sing-off van So you wannabe a Popstar. De potsierlijke publiekslieveling van het zangprogramma werd door de jury volledig de grond in gestampt na zijn vertolking van We're going to Ibiza (Vengaboys). En ook de kijkers hebben Hilbrand dit keer niet gered...
"Ik reken op het publiek", zei Hilbrand nog na zijn optreden. Maar helaas... De voorgaande weken kreeg hij van de jury continu lage cijfers, maar dankzij de massaal stemmende kijkers hield de 'clown' totnogtoe zijn hoofd boven water. Niet eerder kwam hij in de sing-off terecht.
Marc Forno gaf Hilbrand een drie. "Ik vind het jammer dat mensen met talent verloren gaan, terwijl jij hier nog staat", luidde het snoeiharde oordeel van het jurylid. "Voor jou is geen plek in deze show. " Mede-jurylid John van Katwijk reageerde op de vertolking van We're going to Ibiza van de Vengaboys: "Er werd van de Vengaboys al gezegd dat ze slecht konden zingen. Maar dit..."
"Ik ga het gewoon nog een keer proberen", zei de politicus enigszins beteuterd. Hilbrand moet het zaterdagavond in de sing-off opnemen tegen SBS6-presentator Viktor Brand.
