Generally regarded as one of the best trance tracks of all-time, "Wizards Of The Sonic" started life way back in 1994 on the Low Spirit label.
German producer Maximilian Lenz (Westbam) made a re-worked sample from the Sega Mega Drive video game "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" and applied it to his usual blend of frentic beats and high pitched synths. The track was then commissioned for a full UK release, which is when producer Jerry Dickens remixed the track and created an absolute classic that has overshadowed the original ever since, to the point where most people believe that either Westbam & Jerry produced it together OR that Jerry's version IS the original version of the track. The full release on Urban / Polydor (UK) made Number 32 in the National Chart in May 1995.
Three years later, the track was given a remix / re-release which credited Jerry AND Westbam as the artist, primarily because all the new remixes were being produced from Jerry's remix, rather than Westbam's original. Of the new versions, Matt Darey's remix was chosen to lead the track's release and has become yet another mix that is highly regarded as being among the best trance tracks ever. The re-release made Number 43 in the Nationals.
"Wizards Of The Sonic (Remixes)" was released on the Wonderboy label in 1998. Enjoy.
